KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Detectives with the Knoxville Police Department are pursuing strong leads in the investigation of a shooting that happened late Monday night in West Knoxville.
According to a release from the department, officials responded to a reported shooting in the area of 1000 Canyon Oak Place around 10:30 p.m. on Monday. Around the same time, officials were notified that a gunshot victim had arrived at the University of Tennessee Medical Center emergency room.
The 18-year-old male victim had been shot multiple times and is currently in critical condition, the release said. An investigation revealed that the victim was walking towards his apartment when numerous shots were fired at him in what is believed to be a targeted shooting.
