Knox Co. Sheriff: No travel authorization is needed during coronavirus "safer at home" order

While people are encouraged to stay home if possible, no travel restrictions are in place in Knox County

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — The Knox County Sheriff said it has heard complaints about people being pulled over and asked for their “letter of authorization” to travel.

But there are no such restrictions in place in Knox County.

In a release from a spokesperson, Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler said he has not authorized any of his deputies to make stops to request this documentation.

The sheriff asks that if anyone is stopped and asked for such authorization, they should ask for the officer's identification, badge number and what agency they work for.

You can call 865-215-2243 and report that information or email Crimetips@KnoxSheriff.org.
