GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Sections of Little River Road will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 10, and Thursday, Sept. 12.

The National Park Service said from 7 a.m. to noon on both days, crews will complete needed roadside work. This includes mowing and pruning, ditch and culvert cleaning, shoulder drop-off repair and hazard tree mitigation.

Closing sections of the road will allow crews to safely complete this work.

On Sept. 10, NPS will close Little River Road from the Townsend Wye to Metcalf Bottoms. Visitors can take Wears Valley Road (US 321) between Townsend and Line Springs Road as a detour.

On Sept. 12, NPS will close Little River from Metcalf Bottoms to the Elkmont Road juncture. Visitors can take Wears Valley Road between Line Springs Road and Pigeon Forge as a detour.

Motorhomes, buses, vans longer than 25 feet and passenger vehicles towing a trailer are not allowed on Wear Cove Gap Road from the park boundary to and including the Metcalf Bridge.

According to NPS, Laurel Falls Trail, Elkmont, Metcalf Bottoms and Cades Cove will remain accessible during this closure but may require detours. Visitors should plan for increased travel time.
