GSMNP: Missing 35-year-old man found

Jacob Riggs was found around 8 a.m. Wednesday by a park visitor near the Tremont area, according to park officials.

GATLINBURG, Tenn. — UPDATE (4/10): 

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park said a missing 35-year-old man was found Wednesday morning. 

Jacob Riggs, last seen Sunday, was found around 8 a.m. by a park visitor near the Tremont area. The visitor recognized that Riggs needed care and took him to the Incident Command Post near Townsend Wye, according to the GSMNP. 

Riggs had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park rangers are asking for help in finding a 35-year-old man who was last seen on Sunday in Maynardville. 

As of Tuesday afternoon, the rangers are searching for Jacob Riggs near the Townsend Wye, Tremont and Cades Cove areas of the park. Rangers said Riggs' car was found in the park on Monday. 

Riggs is a white male with black hair, a dark beard and brown eyes. He is 6'2'' and weighs 185 pounds.

Several organizations are helping the National Park Service in the search. The park said more resources will arrive on Wednesday to help as well.
