(WBIR) For the first time ever, a Tennessee player has won the Mega Millions jackpot.
The winning ticket for the $61 million drawing on Friday was purchased in Bellevue, Tenn., but won't know the name of the winner until they claim the prize. If the player opts out of the lump-sum payment, the cash value of the $61 million jackpot would be $32.1 million.
This is the first Mega Millions jackpot winner for Tennessee since it began offering the multi-state lottery in 2010. The last multi-state game jackpot winner in Tennessee was a family from South Pittsburgh who won a Powerball jackpot of $25.5 million in March 2005.
