DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — Crews have contained a large fire at an industrial complex in Dandridge.
Officials told 10News the call came in around 10:10 this morning. Firefighters from across the county worked to contain the structure fire on Pine Drive, which is located in an industrial park near the Justice Center.
Brad Phillips, Jefferson Co. EMA Director, said the fire was at a refining facility owned by Silver Phoenix. He said workers refine silver from x-rays at the facility, and there are kilns and furnaces inside the building.
There were three workers inside the building when the fire started, but all escaped safely and no one was hurt. One of them alerted firefighters to the fire.
Nearly 60 firefighters from about a dozen departments responded to the blaze, though they could only fight it from the outside because it wasn't safe to go inside the building.
While the fire is now under control, firefighters are expected to remain there for the next few hours to get the fire out. Crews said they may be stationed there for days to monitor and battle any remaining hot spots.
Phillips said there are no concerns of the fire spreading, and there is nothing in the smoke that would be dangerous to the public.
Departments from across Jefferson County are assisting the Dandridge Fire Department. New Market Volunteer Fire Department, Jefferson City Fire Department, White Pine Volunteer Fire Department, Northview Kodak Fire Department, and Chestnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department all responding.
Rural Metro, Knoxville Fire Department, Greeneville, Tusculum and Pigeon Forge Fire Departments had crews on the scene.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation also said it had been notified and went to the site to monitor the situation closely.
This is a developing situation, 10News has crews on the way and will continue to update as we learn more.
