Investigators are working to figure out what caused a fire at a townhome in North Knoxville on Saturday morning.
The Knoxville Fire Department responded to the townhomes at 1900 Ridgecrest Drive at 5:30 a.m. after reports of a fire. A resident of the townhomes called 911 to report flames coming from the balcony of the unit next door.
When firefighters arrived, flames were coming from the outside of the townhome and had not reached the inside of the unit. Crews worked to put out the blaze, containing the damage to the deck on the second floor.
Officials say the 911 caller and his family were evacuated and are okay. There was one person living in the unit next door who escaped without injury.
