A 5-month-old infant suffered facial wounds in a ferret attack at a home in Coopertown Sunday morning.

At about 11 a.m., authorities were called to a house at the intersection of Old Coopertown Road and Battle Creek Road where the attack occurred, according to P.J. Duncan, Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department chief.

"There were some significant injuries to the face," Duncan said.

The infant boy was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries, according to Duncan.

The Department of Children's Services has been contacted about the incident, said Ryan Martin, spokesperson for the Robertson County Sheriff's Office.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
