A movie that brought Hollywood stars to Knoxville last year has a new name.

It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in April and is still making the rounds at film festivals, but now it's called The Last Movie Star, according to one of the producers, Gordon Whitener of Knoxville. Whitner was instrumental bringing the movie magic to East Tennessee.

The movie stars Reynolds as an aging celebrity who comes to his hometown of Knoxville to relive his glory days and come to terms with growing older.

A nationwide release date for the movie has not been set, but its being featured prominently right now at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

"We are thrilled and honored to be the closing film in Palm Springs! After collaboration with our distribution partner A24, we decided the new name best represents the film going forward," Whitner said.
