KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A holiday favorite is returning to the Clarence Brown Theatre's stage soon. Starting Nov. 21, audiences will be able to watch Ebenezer Scrooge's haunting by three Christmas ghosts in the classic tale, "A Christmas Carol."
The showing will run through most of the holiday season, ending on Dec. 21, and will be directed by the theatre's own Patrick Lanczki. Performances will run around 2 hours and 20 minutes, with Jed Diamond acting as Ebenezer Scrooge. He has appeared on the stage several times before and has taught acting at the University of Tennessee.
The theatre features a cast of community artists from the Knoxville area, as well as undergraduate and master's degree students from UT's Department of Theatre program.
A Christmas Carol was originally penned by Charles Dickens over the course of around six weeks in 1843. Since then, it has been republished countless times and has been adapted for television, movies and more.
It's a common performance that theatres and communities across the world host as the holidays approach.
