KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee said in a release Friday it added 14 more high schools to a program that offers students who want to attend the university scholarships that pay for tuition and mandatory fees.

The university's Flagship Scholarship program gives first-year students who graduate from specific schools scholarships that cover their tuition and mandatory fees for up to eight semesters. It is automatically given to students who meet the criteria for the program.

Students need to be Tennessee residents and they must be first-time, first-year students who plan to start attending UT immediately after high school. They also need to submit the FAFSA by the UT Priority Filing Date and submit admission applications by Dec. 16.

There is a total of 52 high schools in the scholarship program, including the new schools. Those new schools are listed below.

West Tennessee

  • Bolivar Central High School
  • Lake County High School
  • Middleton High School
  • Invictus Academy at Airways

Middle Tennessee

  • Clay County High School
  • Grundy County High School
  • Perry County High School
  • Riverside Academy

East Tennessee

  • Bledsoe County High School
  • Cocke County High School
  • Cosby High School
  • Hancock County High School
  • Oneida High School
  • Scott County High School

Other schools in the scholarship program include Austin-East High School, Central High School and Fulton High School. The university said in its release that by adding schools to the program, it hopes to reach more students who may not have considered attending UT as an option after graduation.

The scholarship program pairs with the HOPE Scholarship offered to most higher education students who meet the criteria.

UT said it could cost $11,560 in tuition for undergraduates to attend the school for the 2024-2025 school year. It could also cost $2,252 in fees.
