Knox Co. Schools hosts Teacher Supply Depot open house, showing off program that provides free classroom supplies

People can also donate items that teachers need to help students learn.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Knox County Schools hosted an open house Tuesday for its Teacher Supply Depot, a program that helps educators get free supplies they need for their classrooms.

The program hosts two "shopping dates" during the school year when teachers can stop by and grab supplies they may need. The school system said the depot serves around 7,900 school personnel every year.

During the open house event, leaders with the school district showed teachers how the program works. The open house event was also meant to recruit more help from the community to help the depot grow.

Anyone who wants to help local educators can drop off supplies at 709 North Cedar Bluff Road. Donations can be delivered on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. People should also call the depot at 865-470-0750 ahead of time, before dropping off any supplies.
