KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — More Knox County students will be able to eat for free after a change in a federal nutrition program. Knox County Schools announced Wednesday that 25 more schools will be able to provide free breakfast and lunch through the Community Eligibility Provision, starting Jan. 4, 2023.
A total of 63 schools will be a part of the program in the new year, and will be able to provide free meals through the 2023-2024 school year. KCS Nutrition will then evaluate data from the program and choose whether to continue it in future school years.
