Knoxville Fire to donate 1997 firetruck to Fulton High School after city approval

The donated surplus pumper truck will provide hands-on educational value to the students enrolled in the Fire Service Program.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — On Tuesday night, the City of Knoxville approved the donation of a fire truck from the Knoxville Fire Department to Fulton High School for educational purposes.

Tuesday's agenda was a decision on whether or not the mayor should approve an amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding between the city and the Knox County Board of Education authorizing the donation of a fire truck.

A Memorandum of Understanding was entered on Jan. 24, 2023, between the Knoxville Fire Department and the Board of Education to allow donations, provide information and make presentations to Fulton High School's Fire Service Education Program.

KFD is said to donate a surplus pumper truck to be used as a learning tool by the students in the program. More specifically, a 1997 Emergency One Hurricane Pumper with a 500-gallon water tank.

The agenda also states that if the school no longer uses the truck, they can return it to the city at no cost.

It is unclear when the truck will be delivered to Fulton.
