FENTRESS COUNTY, Tenn. — Fentress County Schools said it is hoping to welcome new substitute teachers into its ranks and will host a training session on Sept. 4 for anyone interested in working as a substitute teacher.
The school district said the training session will last from 8 a.m. through 12 p.m. at the Education Services Building located at 209 North Main Street in Jamestown. Leaders said to be a substitute teacher, candidates must have graduated high school or gotten their GED. They will also need to go through a background check.
Anyone interested in joining the class should bring a copy of their diploma, driver's license and social security card. Everything else candidates need for training will be provided, Fentress County Schools said.
Anyone interested in participating in the training can reach out to the Fentress County Board of Education Central Office by calling 931-879-9218 before Sept. 4.
Documentation about the substitute teacher position said candidates would report to principals or school secretaries after arriving for their jobs and would oversee student behavior in class, during recess and lunch. They will be responsible for teaching lessons outlined and described in a Substitute Teacher's Guide, prepared by the absent teachers.
