Knox County Schools officials will hold a series of public meetings in January and early February to gather ideas and suggestions for the district's next strategic plan.
The district is currently in year four of a five-year plan, and district leaders are seeking community input as they develop the next three-year strategic plan. The plan helps outline the district's goals and best practices to reach them.
Nine public meetings have been set for the following dates and times:
- District 5: Tuesday, Jan. 9 at West Valley Middle School
- District 4: Thursday, Jan. 11 at West High School
- District 1: Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Vine Middle School
- District 8: Thursday, Jan. 18 at Carter Middle School
- District 7: Monday, Jan. 22 at Powell Middle School
- District 2: Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Whittle Springs Middle School
- District 6: Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Northwest Middle School
- District 9: Thursday, Feb. 1 at South-Doyle High School
- District 3: Monday, Feb. 5 at Cedar Bluff Middle School
The meetings will all run from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is welcome to attend any of the meetings.
Board of Education member Lynn Fugate is leading the Strategic Plan Committee to formulate the new strategic plan.
“It is important for Knox County Schools to know where we want to go," Fugate said. "The strategic plan will help us determine how best to get there and what is most important to the families we serve.”
