Cherokee Middle School teacher's send love to students by hosting parade

"The teachers at Cherokee Middle School have gone above and beyond in providing online lessons during this unprecedented time."

KINGSTON, Tenn. — Not even a global pandemic could stop the teachers, staff and administrators of Cherokee Middle School from seeing their students.

On Monday, staff members met in the middle school parking lot in their cars, which were decorated with signs, streamers and balloons.

Captain Daryl Cook with the Roane County Sheriff's Office and Officer David Choate with the Kingston Police Department escorted the 16 cars for over 2 hours to neighborhood's full of Cherokee Middle students. Students and their families were able to watch the mini-parade from their yards, porches and doorways.

"The teachers at Cherokee Middle School have gone above and beyond in providing online lessons during this unprecedented time; however, we all miss our students so much and we needed to do something special to let them know how much we love and care for them." said Assistant Principal, Jessica Rittenhouse.

The schools say they will continue to reach out to their students and families for support and continue to think of special ways to connect with them to let them know they are cared for.
