Attorneys for the three men charged with killing Knoxville teen Zaevion Dobson are asking for their trial to be moved out of Knoxville, or for jurors to be brought in from out of town.
The three suspects, Christopher Bassett, Kipling D. Colbert Jr. and Richard Gregory Williams III, appeared in court Friday. They have each been indicted for first-degree murder.
Dobson, 15, was a Fulton High School student. He was shot to death in the Lonsdale area on the night of Dec. 17, 2015, while protecting friends in a gang-related shooting. Police said Dobson and his friends were innocent victims caught in the midst of gunfire.
A judge will issue a written ruling on the defendants' request to move the trial at a later date.
The trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 4.
