DA: 23-year-old woman sentenced after killing passenger in ex-boyfriend's car

Kyeisha Dalton was charged with second-degree murder and reckless endangerment, according to the District Attorney.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Knox County woman was sentenced to 16 years Friday after killing a person during an argument in 2022, according to Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen.

Kyeisha Dalton, 23, was charged with second-degree murder and reckless endangerment.

According to the DA, on July 18, 2022, Dalton was in an argument with her ex-boyfriend. The argument became physical, and her ex ripped off her wig and took her phone before driving away.

Dalton got in her car and chased her ex, eventually boxing him in. Her ex then got out of his car and broke her phone.

Dalton tried to hit her ex with her car. She then turned her car around and fired a handgun into the rear passenger seat of his car, killing the victim who was sitting in the backseat, the DA said.

“This is another unfortunate case where an argument quickly escalated to gun violence, and in this case, the person who paid the ultimate price wasn’t even part of the argument,” DA Allen said.

The Knoxville Police Department interviewed Dalton who admitted to firing the handgun and killing the victim.
