KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A West High School student was arrested Tuesday after bringing a gun to school, Knoxville police said.
A Knoxville Police Department school resource officer was notified by staff Tuesday morning that a 15-year-old boy was seen showing off a gun in a school bathroom. Another student told school administrators about it and authorities found a gun in the 15-year-old's backpack after tracking him down.
KPD said the 15-year-old was charged with carrying a weapon on school property.
"The student did not make any threats of violence, and it is not believed that any students, staff or faculty were in any danger," KPD said.
