KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A University of Tennessee student was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of criminal trespass after getting into an altercation with another student, according to the University of Tennessee Police Department.
UTPD said the altercation happened in a residence hall around 3 a.m.
When officers arrived, they were given the name and description of 19-year-old Michael Francis and took him into custody at the Knox County Regional Jail.
The other student involved was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
