MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — UPDATE (10/6/21): The Morristown Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation said a suspect is in custody after a robbery at a credit union in Morristown at around 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
They identified him as Jason Lee Marshall, 35, and said he was found in a motel room on East Andrew Johnson Highway Tuesday night. Authorities said he barricaded in the room after officers contacted him. they also said a woman was staying in the room with him.
They negotiated with him for hours, and eventually, tactical police entered the room. Both the woman and Marshall were taken into custody, officials said. They also said that there were superficial cuts to his arms, but no other injuries were reported from Marshall or the officers.
Authorities said he entered the TVA Employees Credit Union at 5327 Winners Circle Road, handed tellers a note and demanded money. The tellers complied with the suspect.
Authorities said they believed he drove away from the credit union in a newer-model, small Ford SUV.
They said he had been wearing a long-sleeved, dark-colored shirt with a white construction hard hat, dark pants and a yellow reflector vest at the time of the robbery.
Charges were placed on Marshall for the robbery, according to a release from authorities.
