KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville police arrested a suspect on Saturday in connection to a carjacking on Clinton Highway in late August.

According to court records, Amari Langley, 20, was arrested and later charged with evading arrest and auto theft

Police saw the orange Dodge Challenger in the area of Gay Street and Depot Avenue Saturday night and attempted a traffic stop. Officers tried to pursue the car but the chase ended around 5th and Arthur. Court records say the drive nearly hit a pedestrian in the area.

Officers found the car abandoned in an alley in the 3500 block of Dance Avenue. When officers approached the suspect, he fled into the Sutherland Square Apartments, according to police.

Court records say Langley surrendered and admitted to being in the car.

Langley is out of jail on bond. He's expected to appear in court Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
