Deputies arrested a man Friday night following a chase through multiple counties.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office arrested 33-year-old Richard Wayne Roberts of Knoxville for vehicle theft.

According to KCSO, Roberts led officers on a chase through Anderson County, Oak Ridge, Clinton City and Sevier County before he wrecked the stolen vehicle next to the French Broad River on Betsy Court. Officers said Roberts tried to flee into the river before he was captured.
Roberts faces numerous charges, including property theft, evading arrest, and four counts of aggravated assault. Officers locked him up in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $49,000 combined bond.
According to KCSO, Roberts has a criminal history in Knox County, including theft, burglary, and resisting arrest.
