JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said a 13-year-old student was arrested Tuesday after school principals received a threatening email overnight involving a possible bomb threat at five schools.
The sheriff's office said school resource officers immediately started looking through their schools for anything suspicious, but investigators and administrators quickly determined that the bomb threats were a hoax.
JCSO said the email was tracked to a 13-year-old student at Rush Strong School, and that student was charged with making threats of mass destruction. The student was arrested.
Additional information, such as the identity of the student, was not immediately available.
"Anytime we have threats to our students and staff we will utilize every available resource," the sheriff's office said on social media.
