CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — A student at Stone Memorial High School is facing a charge of threatening mass violence on school property after authorities said students reached out to administrators and the school resource officer to report the student's statements.
According to a release from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Crossville Police Department and Cumberland County Schools, the statement was reported on Wednesday and the student was charged the same day.
It said the school system's "School Threat Assessment Team" responded and brought the student to the school office. It said the team is made of the school resource officer and school administration. The District Threat Response Team also responded, made up of school officials as well as law enforcement members.
The release said they found no weapons and said no students were ever in any danger. The school was also not locked down, according to the release, and the student was charged.
