SWEETWATER, Tenn. — Officials are investigating a homicide that took place Monday in Sweetwater, according to the Sweetwater Police Department.

SPD first responded to a report of a fight Monday morning in the 100 block of Powell Ave. The complainant, identified as Tony Paramo, approached officers with his hands raised saying that he was armed, according to SPD. Officers secured his firearm.

Paramo then told the officers that a shooting had occurred inside the residence. Upon entering, officials discovered a dead male along with another person identified as Christian Perez-Sanchez. Sanchez was intoxicated when discovered at the scene and resisted arrest, SPD said.

Detectives at the scene determined that an argument between roommates had escalated and led to Paramo fatally shooting the 23-year-old male victim with his firearm, according to SPD.

Paramo has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, said SPD. Perez-Sanchez has been charged with resisting arrest.
