Previously convicted felon from Memphis arrested after shooting into a McDonald's on Clinton Hwy, KPD says

Knoxville Police believe the suspect was involved in a domestic-related shooting before arriving at the McDonald's at 6715 Clinton Highway.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Forty-seven-year-old Antonio Fontaine has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault and one count of felony reckless endangerment after an incident that happened on Clinton Highway Wednesday night, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

KPD said officers responded to a report that a man was firing a gun at multiple people. Police found Fontaine in the McDonald's parking lot at 6715 Clinton Highway armed with a loaded handgun.

He was immediately taken into custody.

According to police, a McDonald's employee reported he heard five or six shots being fired and also saw Fontaine had fired shots into the McDonald's.

Fontaine also allegedly pointed his firearm at multiple McDonald’s employees when they attempted to run from the store to safety, KPD said.

No injuries were reported in the shooting.

KPD believes Fontaine was involved in a domestic-related shooting before arriving at McDonald's. No injuries were reported in that shooting, which remains under investigation by KPD detectives.  

Fontaine was also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, according to Knoxville Police.

Additional or upgraded charges are possible as the investigation progresses.
