Sevierville police searching for person involved in 'surge' of vandalism cases

The Sevierville Police Department said the suspect was seen in security footage shooting out windows of businesses and cars with a pellet gun.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — The Sevierville Police Department said it was searching for the person responsible for a "surge" of vandalism cases between Nov. 4, 2023, and Dec. 28, 2023.

According to authorities, the person was filmed on security footage using a pellet gun to shoot out windows of businesses and cars from a black Chevrolet Malibu sedan. The East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers said there were 13 reported incidents.

The car involved in the vandalism cases is a black Chevy Malibu with tinted windows. The model was built around 2010, according to the Crime Stoppers group.

Most incidents happened on weekends between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., authorities said. Authorities said because of that, they believe the suspect could be a juvenile or young adult. According to the Crime Stoppers group, the suspect could live around areas of Eastgate Road, the Food City on Dolly Parton Parkway or in the downtown Sevierville area.

The Crime Stoppers groups said authorities are asking anyone with information about the vandalism cases should reach out to them.

Attention Sevierville Residents - Your Help is Needed

Between November 4 and December 28, 2023, Sevierville experienced a surge of vandalism with 13 reported incidents. The perpetrator was caught on video shooting out windows of both businesses and vehicles from a black Chevrolet Malibu sedan with tinted windows, using a BB/pellet gun. Most of these incidents took place on weekends between 6 PM and 10 PM leading investigators to believe the suspect may be a juvenile or young adult. Police Investigators have possibly located the exact car on still images, but are asking Sevierville residents to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers with information on any black Chevy Malibu around the 2010 model with tinted windows. It is likely that the suspect lives near or around the Eastgate Road, Food City on Dolly Parton Pkwy or downtown Sevierville area. #CrimeStoppers Sevierville Police Department
