Law enforcement asks for the public's help to find federal inmate on the run

East Tennessee law enforcement says they need the public's help finding Sean Williams, who is on the run and considered dangerous.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — East Tennessee law enforcement agencies said they need the public's help finding an inmate escapee who is on the run.

Sean Williams has been on the run since Wednesday after authorities say he broke a window out of a Laurel County, Kentucky transport van and escaped through it.

The last reported sighting of Williams was on Wednesday and he was said to have on tan jail clothes. Williams is facing numerous child rape charges, and drug charges in Washington County.

He's also charged in federal court with being a felon in possession of ammunition and for attempted escape from the Washington County Detention Center in July.

In a lawsuit from 2022 against former Johnson City Police Chief Karl Turner, a former federal prosecutor alleges she was wrongfully terminated after urging the department to look into William's criminal history.

Kateri "Kat" Dahl claims in the lawsuit while investigating William's ammunition possession charge, she discovered claims that he raped multiple women and he could even be responsible for the death of one.

In the lawsuit, the pseudonym "Robert Voe" was given to Williams. Johnson City police largely deny her allegations, calling them speculative.

In the defendant's response, it's claimed that Dahl was not an employee of Johnson City and the decision to not renew her contract was not "based on her failure to remain silent about illegal activities, much less the sole reason."

William's Attorney, Bryce McKenzie, declined to comment.

The Laurel County, Kentucky Jailer Jamie Mosley referred WBIR to the U.S. Marshals Service.

US Marshal David Jolley was unavailable for comment.

The public is urged to call 1-800-TBI-FIND with tips to help capture Williams. The reward is up to $7,500. If anyone sees Williams, they should call 911. He is considered dangerous.
