Former Scott Co. correctional officer arrested and charged with bringing contraband into facility

The Scott County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that Jessica Adkins, 34, was arrested after an investigation by SCSO Drug Agents.

SCOTT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Scott County Sheriff's Office said a former correctional officer was arrested late Monday evening. She was charged with bringing contraband into a penal facility.

The sheriff's office said Jessica Adkins, 34, from Helenwood, is being held on a $10,000 bond. SCSO said drug agents conducted an investigation and found that Adkins could "allegedly be involved in unlawful activities."

She was charged with introducing contraband into a penal facility, possession of Schedule Three drugs, simple possession for casual exchange and official misconduct.

"Adkins' conduct is disgraceful and we will operate with zero tolerance against her alleged actions or anyone else who chooses this path. She went from employee to inmate in a matter of minutes," Sheriff Brian Keeton said in a release online.
