Pigeon Forge police have charged a Scott County doctor and county commissioner with a slew of charges after they say he fired a gun outside a camper at the Rivers Edge Campground.
There were several people sleeping in the camper at the time when the incident happened on April 7, records showed.
Trent Wade Cross, 40, was arrested after witnesses told police that he attempted to break into the camper where his wife was hiding.
According to arrest warrants, Cross and his wife had argued before she fled to the camper. Witnesses reported to police that Cross then fired several shots outside the camper.
Police said Cross had been drinking.
Cross is charged with one count of domestic assault, three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and vandalism.
He is scheduled for a court appearance on May 17.
Cross is also a doctor of internal medicine in Oneida.
