Santa caught selling drugs, ends up behind bars the week before Christmas: Police

A local Santa was caught selling drugs in north Jacksonville less than a week before Christmas and is behind bars, police say.

Isaac Geiger was wearing a Santa suit up on the 800 block of Golfair Boulevard Monday in a U-Haul van near a local business, says a report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Police were in the area after getting numerous calls about drug activity in the area.

Police watched him go to and from the truck several times - with no one else approaching it. Authorities say when they approached this faux-Santa, he took off - running out of the parking lot. A large bag of marijuana was clearly visible in the driver's seat of the van.

Officers say they gave chase and caught up to Geiger after he tripped on his Santa pants and fell into the dirt. He reportedly rolled onto his stomach and refused to let police put him in handcuffs. It took some time, but police eventually got Geiger into custody.

He tried to get away again, however, after a quick search of his person, and detectives tackled him to the ground and held him until more officers arrived to help, the sheriff's office says.

Upon searching his U-Haul, police found more marijuana, MDMA, a digital scale, pills, a yellow substance containing THC and a large amount of cash.

Geiger is charged with multiple felonious counts of drug possession with intent to sell and resisting officers without violence. His bail is set at $5,016.
