COCKE COUNTY, Tenn — The Cocke County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to identify a woman found dead in the Del Rio area of the county.
The woman's body was found about 3 p.m. Friday about 15 feet down an embankment off Punkton Road, according to a release from Sheriff C.J. Ball.
As authorities work to identify the adult female, they say she had several tattoos that may help lead to her identification. She had tattoos on her left and right upper arm areas, and a tattoo on her chest. Authorities said "Aspen" was tattooed on her upper left arm, and "Capri" was on her upper right arm. There were also three birds tattooed on her chest.
The victim is around 5'4'', between 100 and 110 pounds. She was wearing a grey Nike T-shirt and black Under Armour pants that appeared to be sweat pants or gym pants, according to Ball.
An investigation is underway.
The body was taken to the Regional Forensic Center in Knoxville to determine the cause of death.
If you have information about the woman or how she died, you're asked to call Detective Zach Shelton at the Sheriff's Office at 423-623-6004, extension 1030, or the Cocke County Dispatch Center at 423-623-3064.
