KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville police arrested a suspect who was wanted in two states after they tracked him to a rental property near Bearden Monday night.
Over the weekend, Knoxville police said they received information Abdul Khalil'Llah, 26, of Anniston, Alabama, was in the Knoxville area. Police learned he was wanted out of Georgia for failing to appear in court on a previous felon in possession of a weapon charge. He was also wanted out of Alabama in connection to a shooting, police said.
Knoxville Police Department Organized Crime Unit detectives said they were able to track the suspect to an AirBnB near the intersection of Greenbrier Drive and Woodburn Drive on Monday.
Police said they said they saw Khalil'Llah and another man get into a car and leave. The car stopped in a parking lot near the intersection of S. Northshore and Baum Drive where police said Khalil'Llah and his passenger, Varrenzo Bradford, 26, were detained.
Police said Bradford was found with a Glock handgun, methamphetamine and cocaine. They said Bradford was also a convicted felon.
Detectives got a search warrant for the AirBnB and located two additional firearms and a drum magazine.
Khalil'Llah was charges with fugitive from justice for the outstanding warrant out of Georgia. Bradford was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony.
Knoxville Police said investigators from Alabama came to the area on Tuesday. OCU and A.T.F agents helped with follow-up investigation and interviews.
Police said additional charges are pending from the stop and search warrant.
