TAZEWELL, Tenn. — The Tazewell Police Department said a person accused of driving a tractor under the influence during Claiborne County's Christmas Tractor Parade was taken into custody.
According to a release from TPD, the person faces charges of drug possession and driving under the influence. In the release, TPD specified that the city does not decide which vendors are hired for the parade and are independently contracted instead.
The police department said 14 police officers were on foot patrol in the radius of the parade. The release said the officers were in an area that spanned around an eighth of a mile and said thousands of people attended the Christmas Tractor Parade.
"It is unfortunate but the police officers did their job and protected everyone involved," the release said.
