KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A middle school student is facing charges after police said the student threatened violence against the school and another student.
According to the Oak Ridge Police Department, the Robertsville Middle School student will be charged as a juvenile for threatening mass violence. Police said the threats happened over a Facetime call on Thursday.
Police said they determined there wasn't an immediate threat after identifying the student.
"Making a threat to a school is a Zero Tolerance Offense. The district followed the Oak Ridge Schools Code of Conduct when pursuing discipline action against the student who made the threats," ORPD said.
Police had extra presence at the middle school Friday as a precaution.
