A Middle Tennessee man convicted in a hit and run crash that killed a pregnant woman, her unborn child, and a good Samaritan will not receive a new trial.
Curtis Harper appeared in a Knox County courtroom Friday to ask for a new trial.
Judge Mary Beth Leibowitz denied that request.
Last year, a jury convicted Harper in the May 2012 crash that killed Chasity Thornell, 24, and her unborn child. Nelson Soto, Sr., 45, was also killed.
The accident happened along Washington Pike. Soto was helping Thornell and another friend who had run out of gas. They were parked on the side of the road when Harper crashed into them, then left the scene of the accident.
A judge sentenced Harper to 30 years in prison. He'll be eligible for parole in eight years.
