NEWPORT, Tennessee — On Friday, March 22, the Newport Police Department received a call of an armed robbery at Newport Federal Bank.
After arriving on the scene, police were told by an employee that the bank was robbed by a "white male." The robber asked for a piece of paper, wrote a threatening note and gave it to the teller stating he wanted money.
Once the teller did what he asked, the robber fled the scene.
After gathering information on the robber, Newport Police, along with help from the Cocke County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, identified the suspect as 34-year-old Jeremiah Senter.
Arrest warrants were then made for Senter on aggravated robbery and theft over $2,500, NPD said.
Before the arrest, NPD received information that Senter was out of state. With help from the Los Angeles Airport Police, he was located at the Los Angeles airport and taken into custody on Thursday, March 28, according to the Newport Police.
NPD said the investigation is ongoing at this time.
