MCMINN COUNTY, Tenn. — McMinn County Schools is warning parents to be wary of a possible scam involving a person going door-to-door asking for money to support E.K. Baker Elementary School.
The school system warned about the scam on social media, and emphasized the elementary school was not holding a fundraiser as of Dec. 28. In the post, they said people should reach out to the McMinn County Sheriff's Office if a person approaches them asking for money to support the school.
The McMinn County Sheriff's Office is available at 423-745-5620.
The elementary school said that the person reported to be asking for money was also "much younger" than an eighth-grade age student, and said students legitimately raising money for the school would have documentation from the school about what they were raising money for.
