The man wanted for shooting his brother in law following an argument at his own birthday party was convicted of second degree murder Friday. Ty-Ray Earl Webb was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
District Attorney Charme Allen said "this senseless act of violence has devastated a family."
"Defendants who have so little regard for human life deserve the lengthy sentences they receive" said Allen.
Investigators say Ty-Ray Earl Webb, 26, and Cara Crowder, Jr., 23, were celebrating at Webb's party when they began arguing. That argument ended shortly after midnight, on September 16, 2015, when Webb shot Crowder. Crowder was taken to UT Medical Center where he died of his injuries.
