KPD: 25-year-old man wanted for attempted first-degree murder now in custody

Knoxville Police said the suspect shot the victim at least once after an argument Tuesday night.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Update (12/20 2:56 p.m.): 

The Knoxville Police Department said Stephon Davis was taken into custody by the Knox County Sheriff's Office at a motel on Asheville Highway.

The Knoxville Police Department said they are searching for a 25-year-old man who is wanted for attempted first-degree murder after a shooting that happened on Tuesday night.

KPD said the shooting happened on McConnell Street at around 10:10 p.m. Officers responded to an apartment in Walter P. Taylor Homes. After arriving at the scene, KPD found a man who was shot at least one time.

The victim was taken to the UT Medical Center for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, KPD said. 

The investigation revealed that Stephon Davidson shot the victim through the door of the apartment after a verbal argument and then left the scene.

Davidson is also charged with felon in possession of a firearm, according to KPD.

Anyone with information regarding Davidson’s whereabouts is asked to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward.
