Man gets 6-year term in vehicle death after Trace Adkins concert

Billy J. Carson had entered a plea in an agreement with prosecutors in December in connection with Tony Farrell's death.

A Cleveland, Tenn., man faces a six-year term for killing a man with his vehicle in a 2015 drunken incident following a Trace Adkins concert at a Scott County campground.

Circuit Court Judge Shayne Sexton imposed sentence Thursday in Scott County.

Billy J. Carson, 45, had entered a plea in an agreement with prosecutors in December. The plea deal included a charge of vehicular homicide in connection with Tony Farrell's death.

While the plea deal also included two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of reckless endangerment, the judge said Carson's six-year term would cover all crimes.

In May 2015, Carson was a vendor at the Full Throttle event at the Trails End campground in Scott County. Investigators said he'd been drinking and was angry when he got into his SUV after a Trace Adkins concert and drove into a crowd of people.

Farrell was killed during the melee, and his son Ethan was injured. Farrell's wife and other son witnessed the incident.
