LCSO: Victim's wife posts bail, other man still in custody, after arrests in TN National Guardsman's 2019 death

The Loudon County Sheriff's Office said Amanda Bishop posted bond on Thursday and is no longer in custody.

LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Loudon County Sheriff's Office said after being arrested for the 2019 death of a Tennessee National Guardsman and facing charges of first-degree murder, Amanda Bishop posted her $1 million bond Thursday morning and is no longer in custody.

The sheriff's office said there were no pre-trial bond conditions that would require her to wear an ankle monitor. Another man arrested in the investigation, Eric Byrd, was still in custody as of Thursday.

Both were arrested for first-degree murder in Jacob Bishop's death. He was found dead on Oct. 1, 2019, at his Lenoir City home, shot several times and bound with zip ties. He had recently returned home from a year-long deployment in Poland.

The case went unsolved for years, and investigators said it was particularly complex. However, they said new technology allowed evidence to surface leading to Byrd's and Amanda arrests. She was married to Jacob at the time of his death, and investigators said Byrd is her distant cousin.

Amanda and Byrd have arraignments scheduled for Aug. 19, the sheriff's office said.
