LONDON, Ky. — The London Police Department said Monday a 30-year-old man was arrested after trying to drive away from police after they received a report about a kidnapping in progress.
The London Police Department said after receiving the call, officers found and got behind the vehicle involved before trying to pull it over. The car did not stop, and LPD said a short chase began. In it, the release said the car tried to drive through a grassy area at a roundabout near KY-1006 and KY-363.
Police said the driver, Dustin Bewley, from Keavy, overturned the car and hit a guide wire for a utility pole. He appeared to be "manifestly under the influence" and was taken into custody, according to the release.
LPD said the victim in the kidnapping call was also found in the car and taken to a hospital for possible minor injuries that resulted from another incident.
Bewley was charged with driving a car under the influence, fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, drug charges and resisting arrest. Additional charges may also be filed by the Laurel County Sheriff's Office, LPD said.
