Most charges dismissed against man accused of impersonating an officer

Police said 26-year-old Tylr Shawver impersonated an officer and conducted traffic stops -- with a dog in a K-9 vest.

LEBANON, Tennessee — Update:  Wilson County court records show most charges were dismissed against a man accused of impersonating a police officer in 2020.

Tylr Shawver faced one count for criminal impersonation, one count for prohibited weapons, and two counts for unlawful blue lights. The prohibited weapons and unlawful blue lights charges were dismissed in May 2021. The criminal impersonation charge was also expunged from his record in May 2021.

The Lebanon Police Department has arrested a man allegedly recorded on a security camera impersonating a police officer conducting traffic stops.

Investigators said they received several complaints about someone impersonating a police officer, while wearing a uniform, in a white Dodge pickup with blue lights on the dashboard.

Officers said they found video evidence while investigating the complaints showing the man conducting traffic stops in the parking lot of a Walmart store.

When police captured 26-year-old Tylr Shawver (correct spelling) of Murfreesboro, investigators said he was wearing a uniform and had weapons, a dog in a K9 harness, and other police equipment in his truck.

Lebanon PD charged him with multiple counts of criminal impersonation, prohibited weapons, and unlawful blue lights.
