DA: Domestic abuser assaults victim, begs her not to tell, then blames her

According to the DA, Landon Sanders strangled the victim, punched her in the face, knocked her to the ground and kicked her repeatedly before urinating on her.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — A man is facing convictions after assaulting and strangling a woman, begging her not to tell the police and then claiming she beat herself up, according to the Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen.

On Nov. 4, 2022, a Knoxville Police Department officer responded to Tennova North Medical Center on an assault call. The officer spoke with the victim who said she was home when 41-year-old Landon Sanders got drunk and became angry about her calling the police about a previous domestic disturbance in July, the DA said.

Over four hours, Sanders strangled the victim, punched her in the face, knocked her to the ground and kicked her repeatedly before urinating on her.

The victim was eventually able to text her sister who took her to the hospital.

The victim was treated for bruises all over her body including injuries to her face that caused her eye to nearly swell shut, according to the DA. Sanders later texted her begging to not call the police.

During the trial, Sanders claimed that the victim caused the bruises to herself to set him up.

Sanders was convicted of aggravated assault and domestic assault. His hearing is set for Sept. 26.
