KPD: Woman indicted for second-degree murder after 18-year-old's December 2023 overdose death

The Knoxville Police Department said Symphony Jones is accused of selling pills suspected to have fentanyl in them to the 18-year-old victim.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said a woman is facing a charge of second-degree murder, alongside other charges, after an 18-year-old fatally overdosed in December 2023.

The police department said Symphony Jones, 30, was indicted by a Knox County grand jury. She is accused of selling pills with fentanyl in them to the 18-year-old victim. KPD said the indictment comes after an investigation by its Organized Crime Unit and the Drug Related Death Task Force.

KPD said Jones was taken into custody at her Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue home on May 16. Police records said she is expected in court on June 5 for an arraignment.
