KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said Demetricus Hurst, 30, is facing charges including rape after officers investigated an incident at the Market Square Garage on Friday.
It said at around 2 p.m. on June 14, officers responded to the parking garage after receiving a report of sexual assault. A woman said she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man in a bathroom at the parking garage, according to KPD.
KPD said Hurst was filmed on security video and pictures of him were shared by the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers group on Friday. The police department said Monday afternoon, Hurst arrived at the Public Safety Complex and spoke with detectives from the Special Crimes Unit.
KPD said he confessed to sexually assaulting the person and was charged with rape, aggravated kidnapping and sexual battery. He was booked into the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on those charges.
