KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Update (2/6):
A Knoxville Police Department police report has revealed more details surrounding a shooting that killed a 29-year-old Monday morning.
The victim was identified as Aaron Russell. He was allegedly shot and killed by his coworker Daniel Arwood after a dispute, KPD said. Russell worked as a bus contractor for Knox County Schools and also drove a bus that served several schools, KCS confirmed to WBIR. However, KCS said Arwood was not a bus contractor.
KCS also said the shooting interrupted bus service at several schools on Monday.
According to the KPD police report, the shooting occurred after Arwood and Russell arrived at an automotive transport facility, where a fleet of Knox County school buses are managed.
The KPD police report said Arwood was an ex-employee of the business and had been fired by Russell last week. Arwood had allegedly been living at a warehouse on the property and was supposed to have left after his employment was terminated.
A witness told officers they saw the interaction between Arwood and Russell. The witness said they heard Russell scream, "No," and then saw Arwood shoot him with a shotgun, according to the KPD police report.
The witness said they then hid behind a bus, called 911 and heard another gunshot, the KPD police report said.
Arwood fled the scene and was eventually apprehended after leading officers on a pursuit. A semi-automatic shotgun was found in his car, according to the KPD police report.
The KPD police report said Arwood is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.
